Mason’s Portfolio Highlights for Pleasure Beach Resort
CBeebies and CBBC
I have experience in multiple art departments, designing and creating props for various BBC productions.
For the CBeebies House, CBeebies pantomime and CBBC HQ, I put my graphic design and illustration skills to use creating on-screen props such as cue cards and Christmas decorations.
Mammoth Screen x BBC’s The City and The City
I was a part of the art department for the BBC show The City and The City, in which I used scrap metals, sand, PVA glue and acrylic paints to craft props of ancient advanced technology.
I was also involved in set-dressing and graphic design for the production.
1980s Nostalgia University project
For this university project, I combined my retro graphic design style with prop-making skills to create a fictional 1980s corner shop window display. The installation explored the darker realities of the decade, including BSE (mad cow disease) and the Cold War, challenging nostalgic perceptions of the era.
To create the display’s diseased meat props, I used cotton wool, liquid latex and paint to produce realistic, durable objects with a flesh-like appearance.
Paintings
My painting practice is inspired by my passions for history, nature and travels.
I am currently represented by Dot Art Gallery in Liverpool.
Illustration
As a freelance illustrator, I combined traditional drawing with Photoshop to create polished yet organic, naïve-style illustrations for clients ranging from Nature Guardians to CBeebies.
Graphic Design
In 2018, I received a First Class Honours Degree in Graphic Design from the University of Salford. I have since put these skills to use throughout my career at the BBC and The Beatles Story.
